Breaking up to make up… Love in shades of Black an White…

Distant Friends…

What would and iPhone user say to a rotary phone user?

Vintage Thoughts…

I’ve posted this picture a few time on some of my other social sites and realized as I was about to post it here, that it would be too redundant and it needed something new or different. I simply gave it that vintage tint!

Wild Animals…

Here are the three animals boards I have been working on, finished! I’ve really come to enjoy this “canvas”, it’s a nice break, and challenge from your regular rectangular canvas. I used a lot of acrylics, and a clear glossy spray for a nice shiny protective finish.

What Animals…

Working on some new animalistic skateboards. I really like the skateboard template, it really allows for a lot of creativity. A few more sessions and they will be ready for gloss and a professional photo op!

Pop Thoughts…

Sometimes I spend too much time thinking about things, this piece though, didn’t take much thinking. I was going to post the one original, the top left one, but then realized how boring that would be. I then decided to do this Warhol kind of effect to it and it definitely makes it a more fun piece to look at.

Smoking Skull…

This board came to me as I was sketching out a few other boards, mainly animal themed boards, you can check them out at my FB page, this one though was speaking to me. Once I sketched it out on the board – I had to first strip it of some stickers, sand it a bit, and then put a few coats of gesso on it – I just started painting. I didn’t use many colors, but I used a lot of paint, I spent about six, seven hours painting, and I was quite happy with how much I had done by that point, and called it finished. Well of course I had to put the gloss finish! I’m looking for a few more skate decks to paint and customize!

Mad Men…

I am quite happy with the way this turned out, and I know there are a lot of Mad Men fans out there, but I have to admit I haven’t watched the show. Had a lot of fun with this piece and learned a lot while doing it as well. I have been trying to find a way to work with the computer a little more often with my work. I still do all the drawing by hand, but after that I take it to the computer and finish it up with Illustrator and Photoshop. I have a few more of these on the way so be on the look out!

iLookin’ too Customize…

So lately I have been doing a lot of work with the computer. I still draw and sketch, but I have been finishing the work with photoshop and/or illustrator as well as playing with flash. But with the weather getting nicer, I brought the skateboards I had painted and customized – with wheels and everything – out of storage and thought about how much fun it was too paint and put it all together and make this really cool looking board. Not like the ones you see at the mall. But, I don’t skateboard, so when I was at the mall one weekend I took the two boards that I had fully customized with me – I figured it wouldn’t take long before some kid would ask about the board – to just get them out there in the world. Plus it would make some kids day. I didn’t even make it to the food court before some kids noticed and without hesitation, to their surprise their day just got a lot better. They went home with some new boards and I didn’t even go to the food court. I made their days and they saved me the calories, and with that I want to customize some more skateboards!

The Right Track…

The tracks above, make for some great perspective. This was the first one I did before getting into the other bridges. I wanted to see how much the paper could take so I gave it some light color with acrylics. I wanted to use watercolors, but it turned out to be too transparent for the paper, and the paper isn’t really made to take a lot of water. But I gave it another pass with acrylics, and though I got the color I wanted, it warped the paper.
