Wild Animals…

Here are the three animals boards I have been working on, finished! I’ve really come to enjoy this “canvas”, it’s a nice break, and challenge from your regular rectangular canvas. I used a lot of acrylics, and a clear glossy spray for a nice shiny protective finish.

What Animals…

Working on some new animalistic skateboards. I really like the skateboard template, it really allows for a lot of creativity. A few more sessions and they will be ready for gloss and a professional photo op!

Boards Up…

Here they are, finished, and fully customized with trucks and wheels, and grip tape. What we get is a one of the kind hand painted customized skateboard! I am super happy with how these turned out. Once I finished the painting, I gave it a nice protective gloss finish, which really brought up the color. It still wasn’t a complete board without the trucks and wheels.  So when I went to the shop I was  able to choose which trucks and wheels I wanted, to really put that nice finishing touch. I put white trucks and white wheels with green bearings on the Elephant board. The Tiger received metallic trucks and white wheels with blue bearings. I gave the wheels some tiger stripes for added coolness! I might go back to the shop for some orange wheels!

Elephant Board…

I couldn’t help myself to do another skateboard. I really enjoyed working on the tiger board, it was a nice switch from canvas and paper. Since I sketched out so many, and I enjoyed the process of working on the board, I bought another one and at first I was going to go with a giraffe sketch I had done, but in the end more people actually wanted to see the elephant. This is actually my second go at the board, the first hit you can actually see on my facebook page. Since the elephant takes up a large part of the board, that much grey would dull the entire board. So the elephant gets color, it will still have shades of grey but with color, maybe like a bluish-grey. I might take one more past at this and then it should be finished.

Custom SkateBoards…

Here is another projects I have been working on. My good buddy Matt Truiano (I only write his full name so you can check out his work, which is Awesome!), from SVA, where we met in a few illustration classes, and a few boring ones too. Here’s a sketch of him from one of our boring classes. He was probably drawing someone, or sleeping. Check his work out, but check out his tattoos. He does some amazing work. So he came to me a couple of months back and said that he was going to get a group show together with a theme and if I would be interested in being part of it, of course. So his first show was, Coffin shaped canvas, you can check it all out on his site. With the success of the first show his next idea was to use skateboards as the canvas. I really liked this idea and got started right away. This is my board! It might be a little hard to make out the entire board, since the board is not completely flat, when photographing the board it was with a slight angle so could get all the work. But as you can see, the tail looks squished. I used acrylics to paint this, and You can clearly see the evolution of the board, and as for the art work it self, I am happy where it is and I see it as a complete finished work. BUT! The work as a whole is not complete?! How you may wonder? Well, it’s not a skateboard without wheels! It’s not that exciting I know, but I am that excited about
